My best flasher/fly combos

This is it folks, the only flasher/flies I run. It's that simple. I know a lot of people wanted to know my secrets for running flasher/flies and there really isn't much to it. So here it is, my secrets to running the flasher/fly setup. First I'll give you the colors. Top left is a purple with glow on 1 side and white on the other(the top 2 are actually the same flasher I just wanted to show you both sides). Below that is a chart. flash which is silver on both sides. Both of these flasher we run the King Salmon fly on it. Top right is a glow green with a silver back and glow stripes added. Below that is a green blade with clear cracked ice tape on 1 side and white with black stripes on the other side. Both of these flashers we use green krinkle flies with a chart. floater and green beads. Last is a white Big Eye Challenger blade with either a white fly with glow beads or white beads with a red beaded head or an aqua fly. All the flashers were Ok'i Lil Shooters(8") except for the white one. We did use white Lil Shooters until I lost the only 2 I had and I couldn't get anymore in the area. So I bought the Big Eye Challenger because it was the only white I could find and they worked very well. Fly leaders were 50lb Big Game and they were 21-23" in length.
Now the real important stuff!!! We ran a 3 rigger setup with the corner rods running flasher/flies and then either another flasher/fly in the middle or 2 stacked rods with either spoons or J-plugs depending on the time of year. Basically we ran J's from mid August on and spoons an other time. When running a 3 flasher/fly program we ran the middle rigger the deepest and 12ft behind the ball. Usually the white flasher went down the middle. The next deepest rigger would be set back 25ft. and 10ft above the other rigger. Usually a green flasher was set there. Then the last rigger would be set 10ft higher than the last and 35ft back and that would have either the purple or the chart. flasher. There were times when we were running all white or 2 whites and a green or purple. Sometimes 2 greens and a white or purple. Our speeds were 2.5-2.8mph at the ball most of the times. We found that Kings would hit these flasher rigs at a much larger speed range then the dodger/flies. Meaning they are easier to fish. We had some Kings take them at 2.2mph all the way up to 3.2mph. You don't get that with dodger/flies. When running a 2 flasher setup we would run spoons or J's on the middle rigger stacked 5-15ft apart and either they would be the deepest setup or the shallowest one. Sometimes a v or sometimes an inverted v pattern. We ran them back 30-50ft most of the times but sometimes back as far as 100ft. Then 1 outside rigger would be set 12ft back and down in the middle of the thermalcline and the other at the bottom of the thermalcline and back 25-35ft. That would put your middle rigger either at the top of the thermalcline or below it depending on how we run it. Again we ran the speeds listed above and whatever flasher/fly combo that was producing the best.
That's it, not that difficult and very effective. There were days we ate up the guys running meat and we always took fish when others struggled. In all fairness we had a couple of hard days as well but overall these things work better than anything else. And they worked from spring to fall. Hope this clears some things up for you.
