Water Conditions: 185 CFM

Report: Fished the upper end of the DSR during the morning on Saturday, had a few fish on the move but nothing great. Hiked down to the Joss Hole and found heaven, a steady trickel of kings running the riffles and then holding in the deeper holes. Ended the day at something like 10 out of 28. Sunday I saw very few fish on the move so it became a hunting expedition, found enough holding fish to keep me smiling, Ended the day at 4 out of 8. Kept a couple of fish for the smoker, all others releast.

Report:
8/22 Latest from the "lower" Salmon River, Pulaski, NY:

GREETINGS!!!! Joey and I fished the DSR from 6AM - 10:30 AM.
Usually we enjoy the walk and see two or three fish---not today.
Fished fast water above the --- for 30 minutes - saw one fish.
Moved around the Island toward ------- Joey got one
right away and lost another. Proceeded down into -----,
saw 18 to 20 fish. Joey got a 25 - 27 #, dime bright king.
Overall I was 0 for 3 and Joey was 2 for 6. Not bad for mid August.

Saw ---- and two of the ------, five or six other guys AND one
snake on the path AND a lamprey which fell off of Joey's big fish at my
feet and scared the hell out of me. Tight Lines. Dave

I personally heard from other very experienced anglers who found Fresh football shaped (fat) bright silver, Kings in the lower river. Some were running in an area that meant they had come in last night, while others were entering the river this am. Yesterday with overcast drizzle and no one around standing where they should be fishing, no boats or people scarring the fish in the estuary, causing them not to run. It's no wonder a few lucky soles enjoyed a peaceful (few fish here and there) day. Water temp 63 degrees in the am.

Best Fish's,
Randy

Report: 8/21 Salmon River Lower Report:

A very small push of fresh Kings came up from the lower section and heard some were caught around the staircase. Not many, but a few. No one around. Nice time to try your luck if you live near by. Best Fish's,
Randy

Report: Latest from the Salmon River, Pulaski, NY:
From what I've been told by reliable sources - Lot's of small Browns around measured by the inch. Taking dry flies well.
Some Atlantic's stocked from inch's to pound's.
(Very) Few Steelhead, King's around. (Just confirmed - very small push of Kings, Coho's arrived in the river)
May have an early run of Kings?
The Lake has been producing reeeel good for the Charter boat Capt.'s I know. Good number of Kings and size too!
Some are startiing to dark'n up (getting ready to run the river) out in the lake and are starting to stage.
I'll start reporting on the Salmon River once things start to happen that are of any importance.

Thanks for stopping by,
Randy Jones

Report: Salmon are biting in 100-140fow. Plenty of large fish showing up. Its been bumpy out there lately, but the fishin been good. Cubait and flies have been producing best for the mature fish. All the fish today were starting to turn dark. One of the fish was big enough to earn us $1000 31.3lbs.The guy we had out on Fri&Sat missed out,he had a 33+lber and was not in the derby. I have heard guys doing fish with spoons but more of a mixed bag. The whole lake has been on fire this year looks good for the fall river fish. Speaking of which, I did hear of a small number of fish(salmon+steelhead) in the river already. Not surprizing with the weather being so wet and chilly. They had run 350cfs for 2 weeks straight and then 750cfs for this past weekend. Now its back to 185cfs supposedly until labor day weekend, but I doubt it. It still raining and the res is full. So I expect an early run. It should be unbelievable this fall. Well nobodys posted here latly so I thought it might be helpful.
