Report:
Fished the DSR on Saturday and went 3 for 4 on steelie's. Two were skippers and one was about 5-6lbs. Sunday fished around the school house, hooked up a good one within the first 5 minutes but lost it. that was it for sunday. only fished to about 9:30a.m., took a little nap under a tree and headed home early. I know the river is still fishable but the high water turned me off a little-1700cfs.

Report: Fished lower fly with a bunch of good people more laughs then fish though good run Friday hooked 5 steelhead landed 2 and also 2 nice browns aprox. 6 #.ALL and all in 4 days 9 steelies on 1 king and 5 Browns all healthy fish . More laughs then fish though from what i could see some people catching some people not but still new friends made and alot of laughs. Did see some people keeping more then 1 fish this is not legal folks i think every one in the fly zone saw them fishing under the bridge take one to the car or get it fillet and come back for more were is DEC when we need them these fish are to great of a resorse to catch only one time and kill for what? If so keep the big ones let the small 5# to 10# fish go they are the future of the salmon river and will return, keep the big ones for there chance of returning is not as great do to the life span of these fish, iam sure alot of us who have been fishing here for 15 plus years can see a difference in what it was then to what it is now .So please practice catch and release for the future of the great fishery here and if not dont bitch when the fish are not there and you spend several hundred dollars to fish and go here and do not catch anything. Headed back next week so till then tight lines and screamin drags.

Report: Fished hard and put in 3 long days with two other experienced Steelheaders from Pineville Bridge to the Trestle Pool. Water level went from 335 to 750 the day before we arrived, but it was pretty clear. Weather was spring-like. We had 3 hookups total. The river was full of fishermen and lots & lots of driftboats- many with clients who had long faces. We saw little action wherever we ventured with the exception of Altmar- which was an absolute circus atmosphere. Anglers lined both sides of the river from the Flyzone down to the Wire Hole. Early Sunday morning we counted 29 anglers from the Altmar bridge upstream to the bend (signifying the beginning of the Flyzone). Below the bridge, at the bend, were 5 driftboats parked with their clients. They drifted 50 yards from the boat launch and parked along the bank. I think that's pathetic and unethical.Hours later they were still monopolizing that spot. We watched as people cast lines across and over each other, but did see 4 hookups in probably 15 minutes time. Shoehorning my way into a piece of steelhead water surrounded by gawkers & onlookers and various yahoos is not my idea of a quality fishing experience. Surely there are fish to be caught in the midriver and lower but the reports from several people in the lodge we were at were of pretty slow fishing all week- (except for Altmar). A 19lb steelie was caught at the 81 Hole on Wednesday, tho. We also heard of an good number of browns being caught, yet we only heard about 1 brown caught. Last week was a very good week on the river up in both flyzones and in Altmar. I have watched this fishery become the Altmar Steelhead Run as probably 60% of those up in Pulaski area cram into every run and pool and riffle upriver in Altmar where there is a large concentration of fish.Funny, most fishermen now seem to be willing and resigned to fish side-by-side-by-side and cope with the extreme tight quarters. I won't.

Report: Managed to fish both tribs Sat and Sun. Oak has some kings and browns. Olcott has them both also but Olcott has a better run. Just wanted to drop a line about both. Pressure was low both days. Keep the reels screaming

Report: Went 4 for 7, all steelies today. Boy do they have fight in them!!! You gotta work for them though. Tons of people around me not hooking up at all. You have to move! If you just stand there chucking for hours at nothing, you're wasting your time. Make the effort and you will be rewarded BIG TIME!!!

Report:
Started off at the DSR in the morning. went 1 for 3 on steelie's. The one that I landed, I had to examine for wings. He spent more time out of the water than in it. Fished up river in the afternoon and hooked up another three all of which got off. Pretty good fishing day over all, not the best day to fish. Lots of wind and leaves in the river.

Report: Well, like most fishing trips i get up to river, talk to a few guys in a bait shop and the fist thing they say is "you should have been here yesterday." The fishing was still pretty good. nice browns were comming steady. the steelie's were biting but reguired a little more work. Caught my personal best brown, about 8-10 lbs. guy's were hooking up all over the river from top to bottom. I did see one group of three guys lay into the steelie's pretty good. Every 5-10 minutes one of them would be hooked up. overall good trip plenty of fish hooked up and lot's of fish in the river.

Report: Found the water very high and cold. Saw one man land 4 steelies on a bobber rig. The 6 people beside him caught nothing, but then again they were casting to the bottom or fly fishing. I had two bites, that was all she wrote. My son managed to land a beat-up 5 lb.brown, which was easily the highlight of the trip. Out of the 8 of us that fished, there were only 2 fish caught, both browns.
